WORKSHOPS
Training workshops
Three training worshops aiming at building and strengthening Marine Protected Areas sentinel network on climate change effects in the Mediterranean Sea were organized during years 2012, 2015 and 2017 together or with the support of regional partners.
Lampedusa 2017 (Italy), 17-21 July. “Training course on Climate Change Monitoring Protocols” co-organized by ISPRA, CSIC and the MPA of Pelagie Islands, funded by Interreg-Mediterranean project MPA-ADAPT.
- 12 participants from Spain, Italy and Croatia.
- Download the activity report. Download the standard monitoring protocols.
Cadaques 2014 (Spain), 1-4 April. “Climate Change in Mediterranean Marine Protectes Areas: a regional training workshop for Mediterranean MPA managers.” co-organized by MedPAN and UNEP-MAP RAC/SPA.
- 37 participants from 11 Mediterranean Countries.
- Download the training document.
Scandola 2012 (France), 2-4 October. “Effects of climate change in the Mediterranean” co-organized by CSIC and Parc Régional de Corse - Réserve Naturelle de Scandola, funded by MedPAN, FFEM, and the MAVA and Prince Albert II de Monaco foundations.
- 21 participants from 5 Mediterranean countries.
- Download the activity report. Download the presentations on temperature surveys. Citation: Garrabou J, Bensoussan N (2012) Development of tools for the study of climate change impacts on coastal ecosystems.
Methodological guide
Check-out “Mediterranean Marine Protected Areas and climate change: A guide to regional monitoring and adaptation opportunities”. MedPAN collection. Malaga, Spain: IUCN. 52 pages.
Transfer actions
Several local training and assistance to the field were conducted for the setup of new temperature time-series in volunteer MPAs in France, Italy, Croatia and Turkey (Port-Cros National Park, Parc naturel marin du Cap-Corse, Area protegida de Portofino, Brijuni National park, Gokova MPA).
